This anti-inflammatory smoothie recipe has a surprise ingredient that is nourishing and healing for your cells and gut.
Reading Time: 2 minutes
I really think this is the perfect combination of ingredients to start out your day… This sweet potato and mango bone broth smoothie is as gut-healing and autoimmune-friendly as it gets!!!
It has balanced PFCs and will not spike blood sugar first thing in the morning (which so many breakfast and smoothie options do).
It contains prebiotic fiber that FEEDS your good gut bacteria.
It has digestive enzymes, which help your body utilize essential nutrients and improves the digestion process.
It’s rich in omega-3 fatty acids and medium chain triglycerides (MCT fats), allowing for a higher omega-3 to omega-6 ratio, which is so important when reducing inflammation.
It’s jam packed with antioxidants like glutathione, essential for reducing inflammation, for optimal detoxification, and preventing oxidative damage in your body.
It has powerful anti-inflammatory properties that protect cells and tissues from damage caused by free radicals.
The high collagen and gelatin content helps heal and seal your gut walls, which strengthens tissues and prevents leaky gut.
And this is just the shortlist of benefits… Talk about a powerhouse breakfast, right?!
Anti-inflammatory smoothies are my absolute FAVORITE thing to whip together in the morning as my first meal of the day. They’re hydrating, nourishing, and healing for your cells.
Plus, this smoothie recipe in particular has a surprise ingredient you might not expect in a typical smoothie— bone broth! I like to call it “liquid gold for the gut.”
This anti-inflammatory smoothie recipe that you can check out below is PERFECT and in my clinical opinion, hits all the essentials for gut and autoimmune healing.
Steam the sweet potato for 12 to 15 minutes until tender. Transfer to a plate to cool down.
Add the sweet potato and the remaining ingredients to a blender. Blend until very smooth. Divide into glasses and enjoy!
I always suggest an anti-inflammatory smoothie as the breakfast of choice because they make it SO EASY to pack in the nutrients and make sure you have the right balance of macros.
This balance can stabilize your blood sugar, supply your brain with energy, keep your digestive system moving efficiently, and allow you to better absorb vitamins and minerals.
Smoothies are also easy to break down and prepare your digestive tract to slowly “wake up.” This is a game changer because it gives your body digestive rest when working on healing your gut!
"When it comes to balancing our body, healing the gut, reversing autoimmunity, and achieving optimal health—we are a lot like a car that won’t run right. In order to fix the problem once and for all instead of relying on jumper cables, we must get underneath the hood, run the diagnostics, and replace the battery so that it runs good as new."
