You might not think of a smoothie as a cool weather recipe, but I am all about starting my day with a smoothie during every season (it is truly the best for optimal digestion). 

And trust me, with the recipe I’m sharing today— you’ll be a smoothie all–year-round kinda person too! 

I love to use seasonal ingredients to make each smoothie a little festive and reminiscent of the time of year we’re in.

When it’s a bit colder out, I’ll drink a little warm water with lemon or apple cider vinegar in the morning to warm up before I reach for my fall smoothie and it’s the perfect start to my day. 

It’s one of my favorite aspects of my morning routine because there are so many ways to make new flavor combinations. Tons of fun ways to experiment! 

Not to mention, smoothies are the best way to start the day because they’re easy to break down and prepare your digestive tract to wake up before jumping right into hard-to-digest foods. Starting your day with a pre-digested meal is extremely healing to the body. 

The fall smoothie recipe I’m sharing with you today is a delicious one that is perfect for this time of year…

This month’s recipe is a super yummy Creamy Apple Pie Fall Smoothie. It’s balanced with the right amount of protein, healthy fats, and carbs, to keep you full and satisfied. 

When you pair carbs (AKA the apple and banana) with healthy fats (the sunbutter!) and protein (I love vanilla protein powder), you get the energy you need, a metabolism boost, satiety, and balanced blood sugar.

Creamy Apple Pie Fall Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Apple (medium, peeled and chopped)
  • 1 Banana (frozen)
  • 4 Ice Cubes
  • 1 serving Vanilla Protein Powder
  • 2 tbsps Hemp Seeds
  • 1 tbsp Organic Sunbutter
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 cup Unsweetened Almond Milk

Instructions

1. Place all ingredients in your blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and enjoy!

 

I created this recipe with sunbutter because it’s the best replacement for peanut butter, as  peanuts are typically inflammatory for the gut and peanut butter is high in mold and mycotoxins. Sunbutter has only one ingredient— organic roasted sunflower seeds. No added salts or sugars! Sunflower seeds are high in vitamin E and help with glutathione production, which is an antioxidant and powerhouse for the gut. 

In addition, the cinnamon supports chromium levels which can help balance your blood sugar more effectively. It also reduces blood sugar by slowing the breakdown of carbs

I also suggest opting for local organic apples if you can because they are currently in season! Feel free to change up your milk too. I like to alternate between almond, coconut, and raw organic milk from a local farm.
