I’m always looking for new ways to improve my health and I want to share with you every resource in my arsenal. I continue to learn new things and discover new tools every day because I know the value of investing in my wellness! It’s worth it for sure.

This month I’m sharing four amazing resources to master your gut and immune health, make gut-healthy baking easy, healthify chocolate desserts, and get your skin glowing. As always, these are things that I personally use, believe in, and love.

Here’s what I’m loving lately…

DAIRY FREE CHOCOLATE CHIPS

Holiday cookies made with actual real chocolate… need I say more?! I absolutely love using these Enjoy Life dairy free chocolate chips in my holiday baking recipes, especially in my favorite dairy free chocolate chip cookies.

Typically chocolate chips include soy lectin, milkfat, and “natural” flavors.” But not these! Enjoy Life dairy free chocolate chips are made with three simple ingredients— cane sugar, unsweetened chocolate, and cocoa butter. There’s no dairy OR soy, making them gut and autoimmune friendly!

Their unsweetened chocolate comes from grinding down a cocoa bean – nothing else is added to it. The cocoa butter is completely dairy free. Plus, cane sugar is a better alternative to refined sugar. It does not undergo the same amount of processing that refined sugar does and therefore retains more nutrients! So, next time your recipe calls for chocolate chips, I definitely suggest choosing Enjoy Life.

PASTURE RAISED LIVER

Pasture raised liver is an incredible source of so many nutrients, particularly for supporting a healthy gut and immune system. It’s a true superfood packed with vitamin D, vitamin A, vitamin B12, selenium, and iron.

The best place to find pasture raised liver is US Wellness Meats because all of their meat is 100% grass fed and pasture raised without pesticides, herbicides, or antibiotics. Liver is such an important addition to your diet, especially during these colder months, when cold and flu season wreaks havoc. I find the powerful combination of nutrients gives me SO much energy. Trust me, it’s amazing.

Now I know what you might be thinking… Liver doesn’t exactly sound like the most appetizing snack. Because I know that liver is not typically a favorite food, I’ve done some trial and error to come up with a simple meatball recipe where the taste is virtually undetectable.

In this recipe, the pasture raised liver is combined with ground beef, chicken, or turkey. To reap the benefits, you only need to consume this superfood organ meat 1-2 times per month. I suggest making simple recipes such as these meatballs or a pate to dip veggies. It’s well worth it.

FARMACY MAKEUP REMOVER BALM

I absolutely love Farmacy Green Clean makeup remover balm. With so many holiday festivities this time of year, I find myself wearing makeup more often than I usually would.

This balm melts my makeup right off and doesn’t require any harsh scrubbing. Plus, when I’m super tired (which, with a baby, who am I kidding— is all the time), it eases me into washing my face at the end of the day. Rather than abruptly splashing my face with water, it slowly melts the makeup off and calls for only a gentle rinse.

Not to mention, the formula is paraben free, synthetic fragrance free, phthalate free, and mineral oil free. It contains sunflower and ginger root oils, papaya extract, and lime bergamot, and orange essential oil. It leaves my skin hydrated and smooth without stripping or drying.

PREBIOTIC-RICH FOOD

Probiotics have been all the rage when it comes to gut health, but did you know prebiotics have just as important of a job?! Prebiotics actually feed the bacteria in your microbiome! It’s not enough to just have populations of bacteria in your gut without providing them with the right environment to thrive… And prebiotics help to do just that.

Plus, a fun fact— prebiotics only feed the GOOD bacteria in your gut! In order for the bacteria to break down a prebiotic and use it as food, they must contain certain enzymes. Most harmful microbes don’t have these enzymes, however the beneficial ones do!

I love to incorporate prebiotic-rich ingredients in my recipes to give my gut the fuel it needs! Jicama, leeks, and Jerusalem artichoke to name a few.

I love sharing my favorite resources to help you live a wellness-centered life. Prioritizing your health should and CAN be simple!

"When it comes to balancing our body, healing the gut, reversing autoimmunity, and achieving optimal health—we are a lot like a car that won’t run right. In order to fix the problem once and for all instead of relying on jumper cables, we must get underneath the hood, run the diagnostics, and replace the battery so that it runs good as new."
