Positive daily affirmations are a gamechanger for mental and physical health.

Struggling with chronic health issues can be exhausting一 physically, mentally, and spiritually. I’ve personally experienced the toll that it can take, which is why I am determined to help you overcome these struggles with the power of positive daily affirmations. In order to truly heal from the inside out, you need to not only heal physically, but also mentally and emotionally. Living with chronic illness is no walk in the park. It’s draining! And even as you take steps to heal your physical body, you also need to make sure you’re healing your mind as well一 both the conscious and subconscious.

MY JOURNEY

This was a really important step for me on my journey. Emotional and spiritual healing gave me the strength to carry on and fight for my health. I knew there had to be more to life than surviving through my symptoms day in and day out.

I started to reframe my thoughts and practice positive daily affirmations. Once I regained faith and learned to trust in God and myself, my perspective changed and the positive thoughts I was affirming became actions, which then became my reality. I believed I could heal and so I did! If the belief wasn’t there, the action wouldn’t have followed. I would still be living with my chronic symptoms and leading a far less joyful life than I have today. Instead, I have healed my gut, reversed autoimmunity, and wake up each day feeling amazing and grateful to be in my body! This life is something that I previously thought was just not in the cards for me. But boy, was I wrong.

If my story resonates with you at all, please know there is so much hope! Your mind and body are very connected and you have the ability to heal more than you realize. This is why I’m happy to share how you can use positive daily affirmations in your own life to move you through your healing journey!

WHAT ARE POSITIVE DAILY AFFIRMATIONS?

Positive affirmations are statements that you repeat to yourself in order to train the  mind into believing these statements are true in the present time. They train the subconscious, which helps create your reality. This builds up self belief and breaks down the subconscious barriers keeping you from your goals.

In shorter terms一 the energy you put into the world is the energy you receive! Some call this the law of attraction. What you believe turns into what you think, what you think turns into how you act, and how you act shapes your reality and the trajectory of your life.

When you first start practicing positive affirmations, the statements you make may not be true in the present moment. But that’s okay! They should reflect what you desire to be true and how you desire to be. Your daily affirmations should be unique to you and who you want to become. As you repeat them, you reshape your beliefs about yourself, your potential, and the world around you.

The power of affirmations lies in the way they shift your internal world, which then shifts your external world, or reality.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND AFFIRMATIONS & HOW THEY WORK

There actually is some science behind the power of affirmations. And as a bit of a science nerd, this is so exciting for me!

The human brain has an ability called neuroplasticity. This means your brain can change and adapt to different situations or changes in environment. It reorganizes itself by forming new neural connections and adjusts in response to new experiences. Then the next time you encounter this experience, the brain is able to process it more efficiently.

The thing with the subconscious brain however, is that sometimes reality and imagination get a little mixed up and it can’t quite tell which is which. What this means for positive daily affirmations is that if you imagine your affirmations in the present, the subconscious brain processes this visualization as if it is a true experience. It takes these positive affirmations as fact.

When you believe you can do something, your brain functions as if it has already experienced it in the past and you can therefore process and take action towards this goal more effectively!

HOW TO IMPLEMENT POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS IN YOUR LIFE

You can use positive affirmations for all kinds of goals from self-confidence, to health and healing, love, and career success.

The best way to incorporate affirmations in your life is however they feel best and most natural for you. You should feel good about the statements you are making as you repeat them to yourself. The key to positive affirmations being helpful is actually believing them.

While positive affirmations are very unique to each person, there are a few essential factors that are necessary regardless of who you are or what it is you seek.

The necessary components of positive daily affirmations include:
Necessary components of positive daily affirmations
  1. They must be stated or written in the present tense.

It’s important for your subconscious to recognize the affirmation as a present experience or feeling.

  1. Use visualization.

When you state, write, or listen to your affirmations, visualize yourself feeling that desired feeling, completing that desired action, or living that desired life.

  1. Use affirmations that feel right to you.

Use language and wording that you use when you speak. Choose affirmations that align with your values. If what you are stating makes you cringe or feels uncomfortable, then this is not a positive affirmation, as you are experiencing a negative reaction!

  1. Repetition, repetition, repetition!

In order for this practice to work, you need to be consistent and repeat your affirmations on a daily or semi-daily basis. Good things take time and consistency.

IDEAS ON WHEN TO PRACTICE AFFIRMATIONS

We all have very busy lives and you may wonder if there is an ideal time to practice positive daily affirmations in order for them to be most effective. The truth is, this is very unique to each person! The best time is whenever you will be most present, aware, and open.

Ideas on when to practice affirmations like meditation, on a walk, during yoga, or while in nature
Here are some ideas to get you started:
  • During meditation or prayer
  • During yoga practice
  • On a walk

NEW MERCIES

As a practicing Christain and believer and follower of God and Jesus, I like to combine my positive affirmation practice with scripture and the word of God.

Imagine this: you wake up each morning bursting with energy and joy for the new day. While this might sound like an impossible dream, the truth is: we can experience renewed energy and joy every morning when our hope is in God.

God’s Word is the most powerful tool in our tool belt. His truth is lined with wisdom, power, and healing, and He gives us access to all of it. All we need is a little faith. These affirmations, rooted in the Word of God, are unlike any positive affirmations you may have tried before.  They unleash power to transform and renew our minds (Romans 12:2). And, as a result, we can experience the hope, strength, and joy of God’s promises, despite any health struggles we face.

By speaking God’s truth out loud every day, we can change our mindset, receive His peace, and experience healing. I encourage you to recite these truths each morning to renew and transform your mind.

Powerful affirmations for healing
POWERFUL HEALING AFFIRMATIONS:
“I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:14)

We can rest in the fact that God does not make mistakes. You were made, just as you are, for a reason: to fulfill the good things the Lord has planned for you.

“My God is the Lord that heals me.” (Exodus 15:26)

God fulfills many roles in our lives, including being our ultimate Healer. He has given Jesus authority over all of Heaven and Earth and we have access to that authority., for healing and so much more.

“I have a sound heart, and a mind at peace, and they are life and health to my body.” (Proverbs 14:30)

When we allow God to transform our hearts and minds, we receive peace and hope that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). We may not understand the circumstances and struggles that we face, but we can trust that God will work it all for His (and our) good.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

As believers of Christ, we are made new. When we are made new, our identity is no longer of the world or rooted in our circumstances, but rooted in Christ himself.

“God strengthens me and helps me.” (Isaiah 41:10)

Philippians 4:13 proclaims, “We can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Through Jesus Christ, we are filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, who unleashes the the strength, hope, and trust we need to face all situations.

“My mind is focused on a joyful life. It heals me.” (Proverbs 17:22)

We act on what we believe. When we believe lies, we fall victim to the power of the enemy. However, when we believe in and speak truth over our lives, we live under the authority of Jesus, who brings joy and hope.

“God heals with an abundance of peace and truth.” (Jeremiah 33:6)

God is our Creator and Healer. Despite our current circumstances, we can rest in the truth that God’s thoughts are higher than our thoughts and His ways are higher than our ways.

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” (Ephesians 2:10)

God created us, as we are, for a reason. He works all for His good, so we can trust that He will use our story to further His Kingdom, strengthen our faith, and inspire those around us.

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it. He will not let you encounter any circumstances that you cannot handle because He meets our needs.

“I pray in faith. I am healed. All is forgiven.” (James 5:15)

God tells us to come to Him in prayer. He anxiously waits for us to communicate with Him and rises from His throne when we do.
